About the Award

For Those Who Shape How People Live

Jewellery is the oldest design discipline — and one of the most personal. A piece worn against the skin carries meaning that no other object can. It marks moments, signals identity, and outlasts its maker. Great jewellery design is simultaneously intimate and enduring.

The Jewellery Design Excellence Award by Design Authority recognises designers, goldsmiths, and studios who approach their craft with this conviction. Whether your work is fine jewellery, bespoke commissions, or conceptual pieces, we are looking for the quality of thought that makes a piece last.

This is not an award for the most prominent name. It is an award for the most compelling work — submitted, evaluated, and ultimately chosen by a public that cares deeply about the spaces it calls home.

Why Enter

What Recognition
at This Level Unlocks

Winning a Design Authority Award carries weight that extends well beyond a certificate on a wall.

01

Reach Collectors and Commissioning Clients

The DA Awards audience includes collectors, gift buyers, and clients seeking bespoke commissions. Your recognition surfaces your work to the people who understand its value.

02

Differentiate in a Saturated Market

In jewellery, provenance and endorsement matter enormously. A DA Awards badge signals that your work has been assessed against published criteria by people who know the craft — and that the public agrees.

03

Open to Every Jeweller

Solo goldsmiths, independent studios, and established jewellery houses compete on equal terms. No minimum price point, no invitation required — just the work.

04

Commission & Stockist Opportunities

Our Winners Directory is browsed by collectors, bridal clients, and retailers seeking distinctive jewellers. Award credentials add the provenance that drives enquiry.

05

Permanent Editorial Profile

Each winner receives a professionally written piece on Design Authority — documenting the piece, the materials, the technique, and the story behind it.

06

Digital Emblem

A high-resolution DA Awards emblem for your website, studio materials, and social channels — a mark of distinction that carries weight with serious buyers.

Evaluation Criteria

How Entries Are Judged

Every entry is scored by our editorial team against five criteria — Form, Function, Craft, Innovation, Emotion — contributing 70% of the final score. Public appreciation adds the remaining 30% — this is an award that rewards holistic excellence, not a single dimension of skill.

01

Design Vision

Does the piece communicate a clear, considered intent? We look for work where every decision — form, scale, material, surface — serves a unified idea.

02

Material & Technique

How does the piece use its material? We assess the relationship between the chosen metal, stone, or material and the demands of the design.

03

Craft & Precision

Jewellery is evaluated at the millimetre. We look for flawless setting, refined finishing, and the kind of precision that only comes from genuine mastery.

04

Wearability

Does the piece work on the body? We assess proportion, weight, and the degree to which the design is enhanced by being worn rather than simply displayed.

05

Originality

Does the work advance what jewellery can be? We value pieces that challenge the conventions of form, material, or meaning — not for novelty's sake, but from conviction.

06

Emotional Resonance

Does the piece carry meaning beyond its making? We ask whether the work creates a response — desire, recognition, wonder — that justifies its existence as an object.

Questions

Frequently Asked

Any jeweller, goldsmith, or studio anywhere in the world may submit an entry. This includes independent makers, emerging designers, and established houses. There are no geographic restrictions.
Yes. Each piece or collection requires a separate entry and fee. A studio may submit multiple entries, including across different jewellery typologies.
Public appreciation opens 1 September 2026. The public casts one verified vote per category — contributing 30% to the final score alongside the editorial evaluation. The most votes alone does not determine the winner.
We ask for a description of up to 250 words. Tell us about the brief, the challenges you faced, and what you are most proud of.
All submissions are reviewed within 5 business days of receipt. You will receive a confirmation email once your entry has been accepted and listed.
Entry fees are non-refundable once a submission has been accepted. If your entry is rejected for any reason, a full refund will be issued within 7 business days.
