Every great practice started somewhere. The Emerging Studio Award exists because the most exciting work in design often arrives before the industry has caught up with it — from studios too new to have built a reputation, but not too new to have a point of view. This award is for those studios.
The Emerging Studio Excellence Award by Design Authority is open to studios across all design disciplines that are under 5 years old at the time of submission. We are looking for the quality of conviction: a body of work that signals where design is heading next.
This is not an award for the most prominent name. It is an award for the most compelling work — submitted, evaluated, and ultimately chosen by a public that cares deeply about the spaces it calls home.

Every entry is scored by our editorial team against five criteria — Form, Function, Craft, Innovation, Emotion — contributing 70% of the final score. Public appreciation adds the remaining 30% — this is an award that rewards holistic excellence, not a single dimension of skill.
Clarity of Point of View
Does the studio's work communicate a coherent, identifiable sensibility? We look for practices that already know what they believe — and show it consistently.
Quality of Execution
Is the work made well? Regardless of scale or budget, we look for evidence that the studio holds itself to a high standard of craft and attention to detail.
Originality
Does the work introduce something genuinely new — in method, material, aesthetic, or thinking? We reward work that advances the conversation, not just joins it.
Ambition
Does the work attempt something harder than it needed to? We value studios that choose the more demanding solution and find a way to make it work.
Client & Audience Resonance
Does the work connect with the people it was made for? We assess the degree to which the public response (30% of the score) reflects genuine resonance, not just reach.
Future Potential
Does this body of work suggest a practice with more to say? We are not only assessing what has been done — we are looking for evidence of where this studio is going.
